Idahound’s Hare Balls are a raw rabbit meat, bone and organ blend, which contain only the animal and its internal organs (minus the intestines). They are intended as a supplement for adult cats, suitable for intermittment feeding. Like all of our foods, Idahound’s Hare Balls contain only premium, grass-fed cuts and whole organs because we butcher, process and package everything ourselves.
We were inspired to create this product for two reasons: customers asking for cat food and others requesting a meat-only product. We’ve also wanted to do something with rabbit for a while because it’s an amazingly sustainable protein with a very low carbon footprint compared to that of other livestock.
For those looking for the truly holistic option, we’ve come pretty close. Since rabbit bones are small we can grind them into the food, making the calcium content as “evolutionary” as possible. The organs also remain with each animal upon processing. A whole animal, broken down for your feeding convenience.
We should add that rabbit tends to be a great option for highly allergic dogs and cats, as many pets haven’t been sensitized, or exposed, to the protein before. So if you’re looking for our most sustainable and unique product, here it is!

I was making and feeding raw chicken for all my cats and dog. Recently, my vet suggested that one of my kits may have a food allergy and wanted me to feed an extruded protein dry kibble diet !! I can’t shake my head at “extruded” and food in the same sentence enough. So I went in the hunt for raw rabbit as it is generally a protein that most pets are not exposed to. I was unable to source whole rabbit locally and finally I found idahound. The fact that they take the time to balance the proper amounts of bone/fat/meat as well as process in a clean environment has been a timesaver/lifesaver. Provides safe eating but saves me time and money that I was putting in to making my own raw diet. It’s priced appropriately and a rare find in my opinion. It has put my Sphynx’s pillow paw in check so far
