Shipping Information

How does Idahound ship?

Idahound uses Fedex and USPS for all orders placed through the online store. The rates that appear during checkout are real-time rates. All of our frozen products go out in boxes insulated with thick foam and dry ice, which add 1-2 lbs. depending on box size. There are no added charges for packing materials.

What are Idahound’s requirements for shipping?

While we don’t place any minimums on dried shipments, all orders containing frozen products must include a minimum of 15 ITEMS.

For customers whose shipments require 4-5 days of travel time, we add an additional dry ice charge of $10.00. For customers whose shipments require 3 days of travel time, the charge drops to $7.00. Under 3 days there are no dry ice charges.

Frozen shipments are packaged in either a medium box (25 lb. maximum) or a large box (40 lb. maximum).

The heavier the box, the greater the Fedex discount. If ordering over 40 lbs, consider increments of that amount.

When will my order be shipped?

Due to our production schedule and company size, we are limited to shipping Mondays and Tuesdays, depending on travel time.

Once your order has been placed, you will receive an email with an order number. Once your order has shipped, you will receive a second email with a tracking number. If you’d like to know when we expect to ship your order, email us at and include your order number in the subject line.

What Regions Does Idahound Produce Food For?

Idahound’s online store is meant for dogs living in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming only. If you’re outside of these states, but demand a raw “farm-to-bowl” diet please email us directly at We’ll do our best to get you access to Idahound’s menu as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Frozen Food Minimum

If you’re buying our frozen foods, you’re probably aware of the 15 POUND MINIMUM. Although we apologize for the inconvenience, this rule exists for a couple of reasons:

  1. Shipping creates a bit of waste. The less cardboard and foam per pound of food shipped, the better. On that note, if you’re interested in purchasing a cooler that Idahound ships to and from your location (like pen pals, but with a cooler!), please let us know. It’s an amazing option that requires no dry ice, no foam, and no cardboard. We’ll even discount every order 5%.
  2. One and two pounds of frozen food will thaw much more rapidly than 15 or more lbs. We want your dog’s Idahound to arrive fresh!
  3. Idahound is tiny operation. We don’t have enough employees to fill lots of tiny orders.

So jump in and get your dog on Idahound! We promise that you won’t be disappointed.
